McDonald's has a number of tactics to draw attention to itself through visual stimulation without radically changing what it's trying to communicate. For example, for International Women's Day, McDonald's turned its iconic M logo upside down to reveal a W, which symbolizes women, as shown in the photo. McDonald's reversed its logo signage in one of its restaurants and featured an inverted logo design on in store packaging. The company's official social media accounts also celebrated women's achievements, changing their covers to feature a photo of the inverted logo. McDonald's even used a visual representation of the sound of its brand jingle on its Twitter account, as shown in the photo below center. In addition to raising awareness of the importance of corporate logo design, McDonald's strategy raises questions about what to symbolize, how to use minimalism to maximize consumer attention, and the effects of sensory transference, such as turning an auditory sensation into a visual experience.
